The Recently Added Reports section has been updated!
Ever since Oregon Bigfoot decided to take on a life of its own and grow far larger than a 115 lb. gal (soaking wet with rocks in her pockets) can handle, I’ve wanted to expand and add an investigator backend. Hundreds of reports have been, unfortunately, just sitting there unpublished in the database. It doesn’t do anyone any good, and it doesn’t help the witnesses who submit them and really would like to hear from someone regarding their report.
Trouble is, since becoming a full-time single mom, I haven’t had time to address the problem… Delegation, as ironic as it sounds, takes time. But over the past year or so, I’ve been picking away at programming a backend where investigators can login and followup on reports. I finally got it semi-workable.
The next problem… I didn’t want Oregon Bigfoot to turn into one of those gigantic organizations that inevitably wear an acronym (we’ve never had one) and have investigators that I don’t know from Adam following up on information entrusted by eyewitnesses. Rather than being a traditional ”organization”, Oregon Bigfoot has grown to become a Close-Knit Community of Really Neat People Interested in the Bigfoot Phenomenon… and we like it that way. (The lack of an acronym probably stems from the fact that CKCRNPIBP is waaaaay too long for anyone to remember! Hee!)
I didn’t want to bring on too many investigators in the initial phase, since I’m still working out the bugs in the backend. Our first investigators were pulled from the deepest reaches of our community: the OB members’ forum. These are folks who expressed an interest in helping out, are people who I’ve come to know and genuinely like and trust to treat witnesses with respect.
Without further ado, please help me to welcome our new investigators!
Felicia Bryant joins us from Medford, OR. Felicia is a full-time web production designer/developer and has been interested in bigfoot since she was a child.
“I grew up in rural Coos County, and have always wanted to contribute to the search for bigfoot.”
Bill Hodgson joins us from Medford as well. Bill has worked in retail for 17 years and previously worked with BLM and the USFS.
“I have lived in Oregon all of my life. I have experience in tracking wildlife and knowledge of the mountains and forests of Southern Oregon and parts of Northern California. My research has been personal, but now I want to help others understand what they have experienced.”
Bill Owings hails from Napa, CA. Bill was a wildland firefighter for 7 years, and has worked as a police officer and in security and corrections.
“I have a passion for sasquatch research and read whatever I can on the subject. There never seems to be enough on them for me to read though! :)”
A hearty welcome to all of our new investigators and a HUGE thank you from me personally! Your presence in the Oregon Bigfoot community has helped make it the positive, fun place that it is and I’m thrilled and impressed with the dedication each of you has already shown in your investigations!
