Long-term witness interview uploaded… update on DNA study… and more

Uploaded to the media archives – An audio interview, over 45 minutes in length, with a good friend and long-term witness from Oklahoma. She shares detailed information about her encounters, as well as an audio recording made during a sighting on her property. Audio and images.

Today, I want to talk to you about some things I’ve learned from working with long-term witnesses for over two decades.

Historically, most long-term witnesses have been reluctant to talk publicly about their encounters. Just as incidental witnesses (those who have brief sightings like road crossings) have met with skepticism and ridicule from the public, long-term witnesses have found the bigfoot research community to be equally resistant to accepting their anecdotes. Why?

Return to Valley of the Skookum/Conference Updates

RETURN TO THE VALLEY

In August, Mom and I took a long-awaited trip to Orting. I’d been back several times since we left, but Mom never had. We were finally able to arrange to get everyone together for a reunion 30+ years later. In the members’ media archives, Mom tells the story of our return to the Valley of the Skookum.

HONOBIA OKLAHOMA BIG FOOT CONFERENCE Sept 30th-Oct 1st

The Earliest Long-Term Witnesses

Hi guys and gals.

First, a personal note: I’ve had some time to step back and deal with some pressing health issues, and I want to thank all of you for your kind words and your patience. Things are better. I’m not out of the woods yet, but my fingers are crossed… which makes typing kind of difficult. :D Regardless, I felt compelled to come back here and offer a few thoughts. I don’t know how often or for how long I’ll be blogging again… time will tell. I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to those of you who’ve offered patience, to the members of the Oregon Bigfoot community who have steadfastly hung in there during these challenging times, to my many friends in the research community, to those who have kept in touch with supportive words and allowed me the time and energy I’ve needed to focus on getting well. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

A note from Autumn

[The Oregon Bigfoot blog archives are currently unavailable. They may become available in the near future. New posts are available here: http://www.oregonbigfoot.com/blog/]

Hi, folks.

I don’t usually discuss my personal life here. But because this affects the blog and other aspects of OregonBigfoot.com, I feel it’s important to let you know what’s going on.

The last year and a half have been extremely difficult. Only those closest to me are fully aware of just how hard it’s been, both personally and professionally. And all of it has been going on amidst a health concern that has recently turned into a fight for my life.

The most thorough field report I’ve ever seen… and a word about asshats.

Holy Cow! :D OB member Nancy just sent in her field report from her and Bill’s latest outing to the Shasta/Trinity area and boy, was it a doozy. Uploaded today are 16 pages worth of detailed field notes, 45 sound files and over 130 photographs of tracks and other evidence. This is, by far, the most detailed research report I’ve ever seen. Kudos, Nancy, to you for your dedication and incredible thoroughness! You are an amazing woman and a credit to our field!

More thoughts on the Gable Attack Film

My friend, Clint, was over yesterday. I wanted to pick his brain about the Gable Films.

Clint is a full-blooded Cherokee and an avid elk and bear hunter. He’s out in the brush nearly every free moment, hunts with a bow using arrows he fletches himself. He makes primitive weapons and teaches primitive hunting techniques. He’s works in the medical field. I figured he’d be the perfect person to ask.

He’s never seen either one of the films, so I explained how they came about. We watched the original Gable Film first.

Life is Like a Box of Chocolate-Covered Ants?

This post really is about Bigfoot research. It just may not be immediately apparent.

Sometimes, things happen in our lives that cause us to stop dead in our tracks and take stock. We come to a crossroads; we get blindsided and end up reevaluating everything. Everything we’ve done, everything we are… and where we’re going from here.

To loosely paraphrase Forrest Gump – Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know which ones will be sweet, and which ones will leave a bad taste in your mouth. (I know that’s not exactly what he said, but it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve misquoted a movie.)

Recent reports added

I’ve been trying like heck to catch up on a backlog of reports coming into the database. You can check out the most recently published ones here:

I finally did it. I’m blogging.

It seems that almost everyone has a weblog these days. Except me. It’s amazing that someone who works with computers on a daily basis wouldn’t have joined the blogging revolution until now. But I hadn’t. I dabbled a little, I guess. But nothing serious.

I had the Oregonbigfoot.com newsletter to help me stay in touch with all of you. What more did I need? Except, the newsletter took DAYS to ready for publication, and with a two year old, I do not have days. Or even hours. So I’ve decided that maybe a blog is a bright idea after all. So I’m trying it.
