Want to be in a bigfoot movie?

Our investigator, Felicia Bryant, sent me this from Craigslist. Sounds like they’ve already hired the Sasquatch. *grin*

Bigfoot Film (Medford/Ashland)

We are shooting a movie Sept. 28-October 4 2009 here in the Rogue Valley. The film is called “The True Believers” and is about two brothers from Mississippi who come through Oregon in search of Sasquatch. We need to cast extras and actors for some small to medium sized roles.

We are looking for middle aged to older individuals who have had an actual experience in which they saw Big Foot.

Bigfoot “spotted” at Ross Island

[Editor's note: This article made absolutely NO sense to me at first, because there was no photo or video attached. I finally found another article about it with a photo. Apparently, there is a faux-fur covered "bigfoot" statue on Ross Island... no one knows who built it, but it was first spotted over Labor Day weekend.]

PORTLAND, Ore. — For decades we’ve trekked the depths of our world’s forests following sightings and reports of a giant beast; part ape, part human. Now the trek ends here.

Jeepers Creepers… Those are Creepy Peepers!

bigeyes2Here I am again, fixated on Bigfoot eyes. It’s been a lifelong obsession, so why stop now?

In today’s post, I’ll be covering several topics: bigfoot eyeshine, accuity of night vision, the ability of these creatures to see light spectrums beyond what we can see, and potential applications in field research.

BIGFOOT EYESHINE

Many, many eyewitness accounts of bigfoot sightings indicate eyeshine or “glowing eyes”. Eyeshine is often described as red – though other colors such as green and even blue- have been reported as well.

But what is the actual physical mechanism that would create this phenomenon?

Kenny Mahoney Game Cam Photo… Is it Bigfoot?

mahoneySome wonder if mysterious image in picture is Big Foot

FAIRDALE, KY (WAVE) – Conspiracy theorist have tried to prove the possibility of aliens, sea monsters, and even shape shifters, now there is a mystery Jefferson County. Kenny Mahoney, born and raised in Fairdale, snapped a picture of what some people are calling Big Foot.

His hunting camera, which is operated by a motion detector, normally picks up rabbits, deer and turkeys, but on September 1 around 2:15 p.m. it picked up a strange image that looks like some sort of large black creature, one Mahoney estimates taller than he.

Manufactured evidence…

Is our treatment of witnesses in the research community creating an atmosphere ripe for hoaxing?

At Beachfoot, my good friend Tom Steenburg was giving a presentation that included a portion regarding a certain witness that he felt was a hoaxer. He began telling us how he felt this particular person was manufacturing evidence in order to remain in the witness limelight. He brought our attention to a photograph… one that he thought felt smelled a little fishy. He also claimed that this witness was seen throwing rocks during a research outing and blaming it on Sasquatch.

Himalayan Bigfoot to undergo DNA testing… and other news

by Michael Cohen
http://www.allnewsweb.com/page8948949.php

Making big news in China this week is a story about Himalaya’s legendary Yeti or Bigfoot.

For centuries rumours of a half-man, half-ape that roams the upper Himalayas have circulated. The creature said to stand 3 metres tall has been allegedly seen by many locals as well as hikers visiting the area. In Chinese Yeti is often referred to as ‘Xueguai’.

A number of locals living near the Nepalese border claim not only to have seen the creature, but to have collected strands of its hair. Now, it has been reported that a team of scientists have collected these strands and have already confirmed that they do not belong to any local known animals.

The most thorough field report I’ve ever seen… and a word about asshats.

Holy Cow! :D OB member Nancy just sent in her field report from her and Bill’s latest outing to the Shasta/Trinity area and boy, was it a doozy. Uploaded today are 16 pages worth of detailed field notes, 45 sound files and over 130 photographs of tracks and other evidence. This is, by far, the most detailed research report I’ve ever seen. Kudos, Nancy, to you for your dedication and incredible thoroughness! You are an amazing woman and a credit to our field!

News article: New book tells tall tale, but not necessarily a false one

On Sept. 22, 2005, Brookings resident Travis Cover was driving on a remote section of US Highway 199 when he saw something that he said scared the tar out of him: a hulking 9-foot tall creature standing by the side of the road, shielding its eyes from the glare of headlights.

Cover knew exactly what is was. Based on another chance meeting with a mysterious creature when he was 12 years old, Cover was convinced it was the elusive, foul-smelling humanoid mammal called Bigfoot.

Report Analysis #1: “Mother and child”

Most of us are pretty comfortable with the idea THAT bigfoot IS. That it exists. But WHAT is it?

That has been the main focus of my research for the last 20 years. I’ve come to some tentative conclusions about the nature of Sasquatch – but my conclusions are always tentative because the plain and simple truth is that we don’t know, and can’t possibly know, yet.  That said, sharing those conclusions with you without context and example would equate to asking you to simply “trust me”, based on 20 years of research, and I don’t feel that’s fair.

Fascinating eyewitness interview – video

Ron and Becky Shaffer share their Bigfoot experiences on the Colville Indian Reservation as well as introduce the “old lady on the summit”.

Bigfoot Trap in Southern Oregon – Video

This is a really nicely done video on the Southern Oregon Bigfoot trap.

Description posted by Youtuber Scott Walt:

Southern Oregon is home to what is most likely the only official Bigfoot trap in the world. The ten by ten structure was built back in the early 70s by special permit. A wildlife research team out of Eugene, Oregon was inspired to build the structure by sightings from far back as the late 18-hundreds to up to the time they constructed the trap.

It wasn’t an easy task. In 1974, Applegate dam that now impounds Applegate lake didnt even exist and the hike up to the construction site was a long and hard one from the valley below.

Bigfoot Mural in Willow Creek

I like it! It’s nice to see Sasquatch depicted as a gentle creature for a change, instead of something with blood dripping from its fangs. :)

Apparently, local artist Duane Flatmo was running out of walls.

Having already painted oversized murals on the likes of the Eureka Co-op and the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts, as well as a host of other local buildings, Flatmo recently expanded his reach, completing a massive piece overlooking State Route 299 from the wall of the new Shafer’s Ace Hardware in Willow Creek.

SOME THOUGHTS ON CALL BLASTING, PROS AND CONS, TECHNIQUES, AND THE LATEST EQUIPMENT

For years now, researchers have been using a technique known as “call blasting” in order to attempt to elicit a vocal response from sasquatches. But is it recommended… or effective?

As far as I’m concerned, the jury’s still out on call blasting, and there many things to consider before you go tromping out into the woods with a ghetto blaster and your favorite tape of bigfoot screams. :)

THE EQUIPMENT

Since the whole idea behind call blasting is to get a response and, hopefully, record it. With that in mind, you’ll need some equipment.

Local encounters – new research area

I’m living in Douglas County now, in a small cabin in the Umpqua river valley. We’re surrounded by mountains.

I grew up here and have spent countless hours roaming the woods on this side of the river. There are very few Bigfoot reports from over here, which is strange, because you can’t throw a stick without hitting viable habitat for a Sasquatch. I always just figured that, for one reason or another, the creatures simply didn’t find this area much to their liking.

Dead bigfoot…er in a museum?

I don’t know how I missed this.

Kudos to Grover for remaining true to his scientific calling  all the way to the end… and beyond.
