Description of event: It was elk season 20-21 Oct, about 6 PM, and on the upper Abaqua. Orey and two others were driving slowly along the north-south road, Orey in the passenger seat, when he saw a 12-15 foot creature walking, swinging its arms, crouched, walking in the same direction they were driving. It all of a sudden shot straight out very rapidly and was gone. It was black, very broad, and very stout, like a big tree. Asked how he knew the size, and Orey said he was a carpenter and a good judge of height. Later Orey took some very good tape recordings of the creatures...a barking, drawn out howl, similar to many other tapes I've heard, only a much better quality and no barking dogs
