REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: My son and I had retired for the night in our tent. I remember hearing the usual night sounds and as I was drifting off about 2:00 a.m. I was suddenly awoken to an extremely loud crash and then like something very huge crashing through the trees. There were none of the other sounds you normally hear at night. Then after the crash, which sounded like a large tree being broken in half, there was absolute silence. I didn't hear anything else for the rest of the night. The next morning we got up to go look to see if we could find anything like a tree or broken limbs etc. or footprints of animals but could not locate anything. We were in a very isolated area and there were no other campers around for miles. I'm not sure what made this sound but it was very definitely huge and I will never forget the sound. There was also shuffling around the outside of the tent.
