Location: If my memory serves me,we were logging in the Monument Peak area. I can't remember the exact location. We drove across Detroit Dam to get to work.

Description of event: I was a yarder engineer for a local company. The mechanic & I went up on a weekend to work on the yarder. It was really quiet. The timberline was about 1000ft from the landing. Coming from the timber we heard this spine tingling sound that we had never heard before. It sounded nothing like a Cougar. It was really loud. It was sort of like.......Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaauuuuhh, kind of like the sound a man in severe pain would make except much louder & at least 1000ft away.
