Location: Driving East through the "Narrows" on hwy 20 right before Sweet Home, Oregon. A narrow stretch of hwy, with trees on both sides of the raod, a railroad track running along the road and the South Santiam river running below the railroad track.

Description of event: My mother tells the story that she was coming home to Sweet Home one night and saw a big black hairy creature stepping over the guard railing between the highway and railroad track. At first she thought it was a bear, but when she got closer she saw it take hold of the railing with one of its hands and then step over it like a human would except this thing was probably 7 ft tall. She slowed down to look at it and it turned and stared at her, and then stepped over the railing and headed down toward the South Santiam River. It scared her so she sped up and took off. I remember her coming home and being really upset and scared. My mother was a first grade teacher in Sweet Home and was coming home from a night class she was taking at OSU.
