REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: My buddy and I wanted to look for reptiles, and amphibians to show my daughter who is 16 months old who I had with us also. I went up the bank and into what looked like a jungle, because of all of the moss. There's a few Coastal Redwoods lingering in the area (Secondary growth, some old growth). I was looking under some moss covered rocks and I heard what sounded to be three klunks on a tree, and I dismissed it as a woodpecker. Then I started to walk up towards some huge boulders and as I looked up to see my surroundings, I seen it croutch down behind the brush in the woods. I could clearly see the amberish eyes and its reddish brown hair. I was petrified and couldn't move for a minute and my adrenaline started to kick in. I turned around and came running out of the woods and jumped from the hill to the road, which was a good 8 foot high from the road. I told my friend to get in the car and that we needed to leave immediately. Then I came home. I was only away from my house for an hour. I had planned on staying for the afternoon. The start of the Cook and Greens' trail starts here.
