From Remote Or turn on Sandy Creek Mainline then go 8 miles to Sandy- Weaver tie rd. Pit is on top.
Description of event: This happened in 1987 to me and another mechanic. My name is Hank and partners name is Tim. We were working on the undercarriage of a D8 cat that was building a logging spur on Weaver Ridge. About 9:00 P.M. We left the job site to return to Coos Bay when we drove past the old rock pit on Sandy Ck. We seen 3 forms in the pit. 2 were very large and 1 was about half the size of the other two. Our headlights were shining on them so we got a good look at all 3. The 2 large ones were 7ft or better and the smaller one was around 5ft or so. They all was standing on two legs and was covered in hair. One of the large ones let out god awful scream and they all 3 took off like they was going to a fire. Tim and I talked about what these things might be and could not come up with an answer. We never seen them again.
