REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: Around midnight, all the members in our camp were just about asleep. The whole camp site was pretty silent besides the nearby calm river. There were others camped at the site but they all seemed to be asleep. I, being nocturnal naturally, was awake. I heard what sounded like wood cracking on wood. Something between wood breaking and a branch being whacked on something. This sound would happen 3 or4 at a times within 2 to 3 seconds. The location of the sound seemed to come from about 200 or 250 feet away, well outside of the camp. My brother and I seemed to be the only ones that noticed. We both got up to start listening. This is where it gets interesting... The cracking happened from then on every 1 to 2 minutes. We began to notice the location of the sound was moving from the right, to the left, maintaining the distance. This went on for about 45 minutes, which each by then, the cracking pattern sounded like it was going farther from the camp every time. It also sounded like it was moving in a linear fashion. This happened 2 nights in a row.
