Investigating the Gable Film

It’s difficult, but not impossible, to research footage filmed in the 1970’s in Michigan, when you live in Oregon. *grin* But I’m going to get to the bottom of this one way or another.

I’ve been on the phone all morning to Michigan, following up on the Gable Film. So far, I’ve met some incredibly helpful and receptive people and I want to thank all of those who took time our of their day today to assist me. Thank you!

I talked with a wonderful gal who works at the paper who was intrigued and kind enough to offer to go through the archives when she’s working over there next week, to search for any reference to the attack. She also gave me several numbers to call, many of which turned out to be very helpful.

I spoke with a wildlife biologist who works at the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) and emailed him information and film clips. I’m waiting to hear his thoughts on the nature of the creature in the film.

Next, I spoke with a naturalist who works right near where the film was supposedly shot. She professed an interest and belief in the subject of Sasquatch, was familiar with Dogman reports and was excited about the case.  I’ve sent her the information and footage via email and have requested her opinion on the creature as well. She’s in the field currently, but will get back to me after Friday.

Finally, I spoke with a gal who works at the Chamber of Commerce who’s lived in the area since 1945. She didn’t remember anything about the attack, but has offered to ask around. Apparently, she knows someone who may have worked for the DNR in the 1970’s. She’s also going to ask around about a “Gable” family that may have been known to some of the old-timers in the area. I’m hoping that she can help confirm that there was such a family or person living in the area during the timeframe in question.

I’ll update as I hear back from these kind folks. Meanwhile, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll get to the bottom of some of this!
