Huh?

This blurb from The Register Citizen, a newspaper “serving Litchfield, CT”, really had me scratching my head.

It was posted in amongst a bunch of other junk. I guess it’s along the lines of a letter to the editor.

Again… HUH?

Is Yeti back?

The reports and witness accounts of the presence of Yeti in Torrington are growing. It is most likely Sasquatch, or Bigfoot as it is more commonly known.

The Yeti or Abominable Snowman is allegedly an ape-like cryptid said to inhabit the Himalayan region of Nepal and Tibet.

Does Dauphin County Man Have Bigfoot Footage?

There isn’t much available yet… just a poor quality photo that may or may not be of a bigfoot. Still waiting to see if more comes to light.

Want to be in a bigfoot movie?

Our investigator, Felicia Bryant, sent me this from Craigslist. Sounds like they’ve already hired the Sasquatch. *grin*

Bigfoot Film (Medford/Ashland)

We are shooting a movie Sept. 28-October 4 2009 here in the Rogue Valley. The film is called “The True Believers” and is about two brothers from Mississippi who come through Oregon in search of Sasquatch. We need to cast extras and actors for some small to medium sized roles.

We are looking for middle aged to older individuals who have had an actual experience in which they saw Big Foot.

Bigfoot “spotted” at Ross Island

[Editor's note: This article made absolutely NO sense to me at first, because there was no photo or video attached. I finally found another article about it with a photo. Apparently, there is a faux-fur covered "bigfoot" statue on Ross Island... no one knows who built it, but it was first spotted over Labor Day weekend.]

PORTLAND, Ore. — For decades we’ve trekked the depths of our world’s forests following sightings and reports of a giant beast; part ape, part human. Now the trek ends here.

Fairdale, Kentucky “BackYard Bigfoot” photo revisited

Oregon Bigfoot blog reader, Dave Conover, has offered the following enhancement of the Kenny Mahoney photograph (my original post on this subject can be found here).

Himalayan Bigfoot to undergo DNA testing… and other news

by Michael Cohen
http://www.allnewsweb.com/page8948949.php

Making big news in China this week is a story about Himalaya’s legendary Yeti or Bigfoot.

For centuries rumours of a half-man, half-ape that roams the upper Himalayas have circulated. The creature said to stand 3 metres tall has been allegedly seen by many locals as well as hikers visiting the area. In Chinese Yeti is often referred to as ‘Xueguai’.

A number of locals living near the Nepalese border claim not only to have seen the creature, but to have collected strands of its hair. Now, it has been reported that a team of scientists have collected these strands and have already confirmed that they do not belong to any local known animals.

The most thorough field report I’ve ever seen… and a word about asshats.

Holy Cow! :D OB member Nancy just sent in her field report from her and Bill’s latest outing to the Shasta/Trinity area and boy, was it a doozy. Uploaded today are 16 pages worth of detailed field notes, 45 sound files and over 130 photographs of tracks and other evidence. This is, by far, the most detailed research report I’ve ever seen. Kudos, Nancy, to you for your dedication and incredible thoroughness! You are an amazing woman and a credit to our field!

News article: New book tells tall tale, but not necessarily a false one

On Sept. 22, 2005, Brookings resident Travis Cover was driving on a remote section of US Highway 199 when he saw something that he said scared the tar out of him: a hulking 9-foot tall creature standing by the side of the road, shielding its eyes from the glare of headlights.

Cover knew exactly what is was. Based on another chance meeting with a mysterious creature when he was 12 years old, Cover was convinced it was the elusive, foul-smelling humanoid mammal called Bigfoot.

But the Yeti cannot possibly exist…

Flying frog among 353 new Himalayan species: WWF

KATHMANDU (AFP) – A flying frog, the world’s smallest deer and the first new monkey to be found in over a century are among 350 new species discovered in the eastern Himalayas in the past decade, the WWF said Monday.

But the environmental group said the vital habitats of the mountain range were facing growing pressures from unsustainable development in the region, which spans Nepal, China, India, Bhutan and Myanmar.

In a report released here, it said climate change, deforestation, overgrazing by domestic livestock and illegal poaching and wildlife trading threatened one of the biologically richest areas of the planet.

Bigfoot creature photographed in Sierra National Forest

Article, comments and my photo analysis are below:

Bigfoot creature photographed in Sierra National Forest

The Bigfoot creature may have been captured on a remote trail camera placed in the Sierra National Forest, based on photography evidence released by Sanger Paranormal Society.

Investigator Jeffrey Gonzalez said Tuesday night that multiple cameras were put in place in this remote area on Memorial Day weekend, and retreived on June 7, 2009.

Gonzalez said they did not immediately see the evidence, but upon closer inspection, noticed what appears to be the Bigfoot creature.

Bigfoot Trap in Southern Oregon – Video

This is a really nicely done video on the Southern Oregon Bigfoot trap.

Description posted by Youtuber Scott Walt:

Southern Oregon is home to what is most likely the only official Bigfoot trap in the world. The ten by ten structure was built back in the early 70s by special permit. A wildlife research team out of Eugene, Oregon was inspired to build the structure by sightings from far back as the late 18-hundreds to up to the time they constructed the trap.

It wasn’t an easy task. In 1974, Applegate dam that now impounds Applegate lake didnt even exist and the hike up to the construction site was a long and hard one from the valley below.

Bigfoot Mural in Willow Creek

I like it! It’s nice to see Sasquatch depicted as a gentle creature for a change, instead of something with blood dripping from its fangs. :)

Apparently, local artist Duane Flatmo was running out of walls.

Having already painted oversized murals on the likes of the Eureka Co-op and the Arkley Center for the Performing Arts, as well as a host of other local buildings, Flatmo recently expanded his reach, completing a massive piece overlooking State Route 299 from the wall of the new Shafer’s Ace Hardware in Willow Creek.

A new way to find Bigfoot?

Sure. If scientists would believe their own data and start to take the subject seriously.

Autumn’s commentary below… in bold.

Read this one and weep.

Bigfoot’s favorite haunts revealed

London, July 7 : A team of scientists has applied ecological niche modelling to predict the mythical Bigfoot’s favorite haunts in the United States.

Conservation biologists often need to predict where rare species are capable of living – for selecting the best site for a national park, for example, or forecasting how badly a species’ range will suffer as the climate changes in the future.

Dead bigfoot…er in a museum?

I don’t know how I missed this.

Kudos to Grover for remaining true to his scientific calling  all the way to the end… and beyond.
