My friend, Clint, was over yesterday. I wanted to pick his brain about the Gable Films.
Clint is a full-blooded Cherokee and an avid elk and bear hunter. He’s out in the brush nearly every free moment, hunts with a bow using arrows he fletches himself. He makes primitive weapons and teaches primitive hunting techniques. He’s works in the medical field. I figured he’d be the perfect person to ask.
He’s never seen either one of the films, so I explained how they came about. We watched the original Gable Film first.
My first question to him was about the woodcutter and the person under the hood of the truck. “Do you get the impression that this is a man or a woman?” I asked. “Woman,” he said, without hesitation. He mentioned the stance of the woodcutter, the shape of the arms. He also said that he thought he noticed breasts on the person working on the truck.
The we watched the attack sequence. I asked him if he thought it was a bear. He got a funny look on his face after watching it a few times and looked at me strangely. “I never seen a bear change directions in the middle of a charge like that,” he said, “and I’ve been charged by plenty of bears. That thing ZIGZAGS!” When I asked him, “Do you think it’s a bear?” he said, “That’s not a bear.”
Then, we watched the attack scene footage. Clint mentioned the lack of blood around the entrails. When I showed him a side-by-side comparison of the person in the first footage and the body in the second, he thought it was the same person, too. So I asked him: “If the attack scene investigation footage is a hoax, then the creature footage has to be a hoax, right?”
Clint’s response: “I don’t know what that thing is, but it’s definitely a real animal. That’s just WEIRD.”
*grin*
Note: I’ve located and embedded another copy of the second Gable Film in my original post on this. The original poster of the attack sequence has closed his YouTube account. I never did get a response from him. I wonder if it’s because he was inundated with interview requests, or if this smacks of something else. I suppose at this point all we can do is wait to see whether or not the FINAL chunk of the attack scene footage ever comes to light. If this does turn out to be a hoax, I’ll personally shake the hand of whoever pulled it off, because it’s a damned good one.
One other thing… I’m still undecided about whether or not that torso belongs to a man or a woman, and find myself leaning toward it being a female. Several people elsewhere have mentioned searching the death index, etc. for the name “Aaron Gable”. If Aaron Gable was the father, whom the truck was registered to, but was not present during the attack, for all we know he may still be alive.
