Rowan and I were out in the yard after dark last night. I’d heard rustling in the field across the road and shined a spotlight over there. The cows were hanging out, chewing their cud, eyes shining. Good old tapetum lucidum. :) I thought it would be neat for Rowie to see the glowing eyes, so I got her shoes on, I grabbed a couple of glowsticks for her to play with, and we went outside.
After spotlighting (and probably blinding) the cows, and waving glowsticks around, I walked her over to the yard with the idea of lying on the grass and looking up at the stars. As I looked over to the south, I saw two bright “stars” which were “twinkling” furiously. I knelt down and pointed them out to Rowan, watching them. I still thought they were stars, but something wasn’t right. “Why are they twinkling so much?” I asked aloud. Rowan answered, “Don’t know, Momma.” Very matter-of-fact. It made me grin. I wasn’t really expecting an answer. :)
Suddenly, they weren’t stationary at all. They began moving toward us. My first thought was that it was two jets, one following another. But they looked weird: they were moving too slow and I couldn’t hear anything. I ran inside and grabbed the cell phone to call Mom and Bob. Mom answered on about the fifth ring. “Come see the lights in the sky!” I said. Then I ran inside and grabbed the camera.
As I began filming, the camera wigged out and flashed “Cleaning tape”. I thought, “Oh, crud.” But I turned it back on, and it began working. I flashed them a couple of times with the spotlight, but it had no effect.
The closer the lights got, the weirder they looked. It was obvious to me that they were aircraft of some sort, but I’ve watched the skies my whole life and feel that I have a pretty good handle on what traditional aircraft look like at night. These did NOT look like that.
I started getting weirded out. Mom and Bob hadn’t come outside yet and I was afraid they were going to miss them. On the video, you can hear me yelling at them to come outside and look up. As they came out, the motion light came on and obscured the view somewhat. I was still over in my yard and could see the lights clearly, directly over their heads. I ran over to where they were, Rowie clinging to my leg.
Like a dummy, I turned the nightshot on in order to help the camera pick up the light, so the colors aren’t really visible. The two strobes on the back corners were brilliant red and green, the rest white (the red and green lights were what caused me to think I was looking at airplanes intially). There appeared to be three white lights on the back of the objects, BRIGHTLY flashing green and red at the back corners, a very bright white strobe in the center and another white light at the front. As I got into position just past the motion light, I remembered to zoom. And that’s when I realized that this was much weirder than I initially thought.
As I zoomed, my eye picked up a TRIANGULAR, SOLID shape in the front object. What the heck?!? As I’m filming, you can hear me saying over and over again, “What ARE they!?!??” I think I’m thoroughly freaked out by this point. *grin*
The entire episode lasted well over five full minutes. They moved from north to south slowly. When they were directly overhead, we could hear a muffled sound, somewhere between a distant jet and a “whooshing” sound. They came almost directly over the house and were much lower than commercial jets. I’d guess less than 10,000 feet. Aside from that vague sound, there was no typical aircraft noise.
When you see something like this, your mind tries to place it in a “known” category. My mind was racing as I watched these lights. Jets? No jet noise. Helicopters? With lights like that? We even went so far as to suggest ultra-lights or some other kind of small aircraft.
When they were gone, I went inside and downloaded the video to the computer:
Here are some stills from the video.
Note the triangular shape of the object in front (on the right):

This is a still of the strobe on the front object. The strobe is in the CENTER of the object:

Another still showing a solid, triangular shape. The point of the triangle was heading away from us, to the right:

A lightened view of the triangle:

The two lights on the back corners. They were red and green and strobing SIMULTANEOUSLY in this frame:

A shot of the strobe on the object following the first one. It was so bright, the red hue showed up, even in nightshot, when I zoomed in.

Another shot of the back strobe. The three back lights on this were no longer visible. Just the strobe. I have no idea what’s causing this strange shape. Camera movement?

A blown-up enhancement of the triangular shape:

For those of you who may be more familiar than I am with the lights on different aircraft, PLEASE feel free to leave some feedback on this. Please be sure to view the video above first, however, since the strobing of the lights is part of what’s so strange about these. (Not to mention the solid, triangle shape that’s visible…) I have no idea what kind of conventional aircraft could cause these. Thus, for the moment, these objects remain unidentified unless someone can offer a valid explanation! Not that they’re “alien” spacecraft, of course. They could simply be alien to me. :)
For what it’s worth, after viewing the video, I found myself back out in the yard last night at least five more times after Rowan went to bed, staring at the sky, trying to make sense of it. I saw nothing else besides a shooting star and a commercial airliner, with a single blinking white light, at cruising altitude.
Sorry today’s post isn’t bigfoot-related. I just happened to have weird lights in the sky last night instead of Bigfoot running around in the yard. (Darn it.)
Just for fun… when you view the video, try counting how many times I say, “What are they?”
*grin*

thats great, wish i could see something like this in okla . people do see ufo, bigfoot here but i have not had the luck as of this date. thanks for the update. kenneth.
Great video. definitely think you caught two ufos. Reminds me a lot of the craft my mom and I saw in 1988.
Autumn,
I was in the Navy as and Air Recon Photographer, which means I rode in helicopter’s and was aboard a the USS Enterprise and around Jets and aircraft of all kinds….I can say without a doubt….I have never seen strobe’s on any aircraft that have that alignment….that is very strange……really cool!!! but strange.
Just one question enters my mind—- “What are they?!” :)
Good job Autumn with the camera. Any image is better than just a story. Now there is something to compare another siteing with if someone else sees it or something that looks like it.
I counted 8 “What are They..s” From you, though Rowan asked a few times too… lol 3 “Are you guys out here?” I think it’s a Govmint, aircraft, modeled on alien technology. I’m no expert but; lights on wings and tails sounds like military hardware…
Not to change the subject, but back to Bigfoot…. lol I want to volunteer my time on a research field project… I’ve never been to Oregon.. So.. I don’t know anyone nor have any friends out there.. I don’t want to spend a lot… I can pay to get there and back again, and pay for my own food… I have a lot of outdoor experience, and I revere nature.. So staying outside or in a barn is OK.. I’ll bet if you piled hay all around a tent in a barn you’d sleep like a baby… Even in an Oregon Winter… Maybe you can help put me in touch with the right people Autumn… I am determined to try… (One time I thought I gave up on something but , later I realized I was just taking a break) OK Keep up the good work… Question.. Did you watch Scooby Doo a lot as a child? I know I did…. lol : )

Two supposed black project aircraft with the triangle shape. IMHO the Aurora looks very like the triangle you filmed.
My son and I also saw the light from Josephine County, but our view was that it was going due north at a very high rate of speed and arched to the east. We didnt hear any sound, nor did we see any blinking lights- just a very bright fast moving light.
wildwind, merlin
LOL – I think you say “What are they?” about ten times. You and your family sound so cute!
Autumn: “What are they?”
Rowan: “I don’t know, mamma.”
Autumn: “But what are they?”
Rowan: “Mamma, please. I’m a toddler. I don’t know.”
Autumn: “But Rowie, what ARE those??”
Rowan: “It’s hard to say, mommy. They could be misidentified military aircraft, an optical illusion, or perhaps even interplanetary transport vehicles come to study life on Earth… I just don’t know.”
Autumn: “Oh… But what ARE they???”
All joking aside, these COULD very well be UFO’s. Towards the end of the video, you get a pretty good look at them as the picture stabilizes and Autumn zooms in. The craft on the far right especially is clear. I can make out three solid, big lights in a row, accompanied by several other flashing lights around it. Not only does this not match up with any known aircraft that I can think of, but it looks very similar to witness descriptions I’ve seen on UFO shows. Triangular shape, the lights, everything points to UFO. Too bad you didn’t catch them suddenly zooming away into the sky at impossible speed, and too bad it’s not in full color or in sharp focus… But it’s still pretty good.
So who woulda’ thought? All these years looking for Bigfoot, and what does Autumn catch on tape – UFO’s. Well, don’t apologize. All of us freaks who are into Bigfoot also dig UFO’s, and many Bigfooters believe there is a connection with UFO’s anyway, so who knows?
In any case, this is very cool stuff, and I’m glad you posted it. ‘Course, now that you’ve set the bar this high, we’re gonna expect you to TOP this video, and impress us more and more each time!
Keep your eyes open and camera on hand!
Jesse
[Editor's note: You're freakin' hilarious, Jess. :D]
U WERE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME…GOOD CATCH..HAS 2B FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE…WHAT ARE THEY.???? X 8..LOL…I HOPE WHEN WE CATCH A BIGFOOT ON TAPE U DON’T ASK WHAT IS THAT..X 8..LOL…. HAVE A GOOD DAY…GOD BLESS.
Interestingly enough, I was standing outside last night just after dusk in Shady Cove taling with a friend. I noticed two intensely bright lights flying very high from the south to the north almost directly overhead. I commented on them, but the group agreed that they were just planes because there were two flying the same course. I dismissed it at the time, but after reading your story, I believe what I saw was too bright (for their altitude) and too close together to be commercial craft. This would have been about 8:15 last night.
keep an eye on helicopters
Idle thoughts…
*It “could” have been an Air Force test aircraft. Though why they have non-standard running lihjts beats me.
*If it’s visiters, it fits in with a theory I’ve read somewhere that “they” are trying to get us used to them over time. any open contact would just be too traumatic for the bulk of the population.
*Could always be the Air Force using their super-snoops to find meth labs and marijuana farms in the forests.
*You were gutsy for shining your spotlight at them. :-) There’s always the thing of: “Okay, you’ve got their attention. NOW what do you do?”
Nice one,
Something strange me thinks,
Keep up the good works, I like mysteries
We were in bed watching TV when Autie called over to our house. I just barely heard the phone ringing. I had to jump up, run to the other room in the dark, then try to find the talk button on the damned thing. All I heard was something about lights in the sky.
When I ran out front the motion light blasted on, and the phone went dead. As soon as I stepped out I got the willies, so I went back in to make Bobbie come out too. By the time he got his pants on Autumn was yelling, “Look up! They’re right over your heads!”
They sure were! They were flashing lights all over the place. After we walked around the shop (away from the motion light) we could see clearly this was something unusual. These things were quite low, and moving slowly with one behind, and off to the left of the other. We could see red, green and VERY bright white lights on both when they were overhead. They looked like one of those kid’s toys.
The flight path of planes around here is something we see all the time (night and day). These behaved nothing like the planes, helicopters, and fighter jets we see here.
The noise was like a soft droning, or whooshing. It didn’t last long, and could only be heard faintly when they were directly overhead.
I wasn’t aware of their shape until Autumn sent me some stills from the video late last night. The triangle shape of the craft in the lead was evident in some of the stills.
Tonight we’re going to head up to the highest mt. nearby at the same time to see if we can spot anything again. Wish us luck!
It looks like it may be a blimp. The bottom looks like the cockpit area. With the strobs up top. Any sporting events in the area?
[Editor's note: Hi Bob. We live outside of Elkton, OR, Population 178, with the nearest sizeable city an hour in either direction, north or south. I've seen many a blimp in my day, and these just didn't have that appearance.]
When I was in the first Gulf war my unit and I saw a large black triangle that moved over our position with out any sound was like no other type of conventional aircraft I’d ever seen and we had all seen the F117 stealth. When we were debriefed we brought the whole incident up and were told not to discuss it. That in my mind told me it was ours or they knew what it was. So more then likely these things are ours. But who knows? Just who ever was flying them I suppose
Great stuff, and very interesting. Have any reports come in over the police bands in the last 34 hours? Check with your local air controllers about nighttime traffic at that point in time.

Nice Video! (Damned Porch-Lights!) LOL!
At first I thot it MAY have been the ISS & Space Shuttle flying over head…in Tandem after their Separation awaiting de-orbit burn # 202 this afternoon to return home??
…UNTIL the lights started to Strobe & Blink!..that is!!!
The colours you describe of some of lights ARE indicative of human aircraft!
Red(Portside)left…
Green(Starboard)right…
and White(usually Stern/Aft)back/rear…
That’s kinda weird now too cuz of the motion…especially the ‘triangle?…Good Job, EH??
Maybe it’s Sasquatch Eyeshine as he’s/she’s being raised or lowered frm a UFO?? LMAO!
Take Care! ‘What r THEY?’ @ 9 times, MAYBE!…lmao!
~ Heinz/aka sentinel91101
That’s awesome you guys!! I’ve seen a couple things like that in my day… craft that you just can’t put into any conventional category. Scared the heck out of me, to be sure!
Neat photos…good luck on future viewings!!
These weren’t helicopters. We have those flying low over our area all the time. We also have small, VERY loud, fighter jets (from where I don’t know) that follow the Umpqua River at times. Once Bobbie and I were at a nearby ranch doing yard work for the owner. He was on the riding mower, and I was pulling weeds. When the jet came roaring past (at no more than tree top level) he thought the mower had blown up! I could see the pilot sitting in the cockpit as he flew by.
We all know the sounds from various aircraft in our area; especially at night. The faint droning last night was like none of them. Plus, they were going so slow. It was almost as though they were searching for something; even though they kept on a straight course across the sky. They certainly didn’t care if they were spotted.
I’ve certainly never seen anything like them. They were up there a long time. If you can imagine how long it takes a 73 year old geezer to put on his pants and shoes, then still have time to see them, you have an idea.
Looks and sounds exactly like the craft my son and daughter described to me moving over our house a few months back. Triangluar shape with the flashing/strobing lights. The craft was only about 5000 feet above my house. I must have raised them right because they just took it in stride. They came in the house and said, “Hey Mom, we just saw a UFO go over the house.” That was said in a very calm, casual way as if to say…..”Hey Mom, one of the dogs got out of the fence, but we got him back in the yard.”
Autumn, I think you definitely saw a UFO…..”Unidentified” “Flying” “Object”
Donna
Flying flashing lights? One word: Skylons!
You know what we will all be doing tonight. ;)
Nice, spur of the moment video. I sure hope a bigfoot was aboard or if more than one would we call them bigfeet? :-)
[Editor's note: Thanks. And it's "Bigfoots", I think, Bob. Actually, I usually go for the old standby, "Sasquatches". Much easier to pluralize. *grin*
Yeah, you can tell the footage was raw and unedited... WHATARETHEYWHATARETHEYWHATARETHEY? Hee. - Autumn]
hi ya autumn i have seen a stealth fighter before but it was during the day and, it was flying low and slow with a jet fighter following in back of it .then i found out they only fly 600 mph, i wonder if that is what you saw ?
billy
LOL @ your comment Autumn. I do think bigfoots is correct and sasquatches sounds better but I bet they all have bigFEET. Anyway, I was just adding levity to the strange event you experienced. Bob
[Editor's note: Levity much appreciated, Bob. If things get much weirder around here, I'm going to start selling tickets. Ha! - Autumn]
It was 9/9/09 weird cosmic things happen:)
[Editor's note: Yeah... the only way it could have been weirder is if it would have happened 15 minutes later. *grin* - Autumn]
you should contact your local MUFON, also check NUFORC site for other sightings in your area at same time. As a former MUFON field investigator I would say you have some interesting footage.
[Editor's note: Filed a report with NUFORC earlier and spoke with Peter Davenport on the phone this evening. :)]
We will forgive you for getting sidetrack this time, Autumn. However, don’t let it happen TOO often in the future. *GRIN*
By the way, do you think they may have been Niburuian ships checking out their turf before the next flyby? *wink*
To report the sighting to MUFON: http://mufon.com/reportufo.htm
Im wondering if theyre govt hybrid copters. The technology that we have today its hard telling if they were really ufos or not. If they dropped out something brown and hairy it could be a toss up as to who it might be. I enjoyed the pics though very cool. :)
After seeing the video Ive seen things like that on shows like UFO files. Im not sure if they’re stationary or not but it looked like it. Interesting stuff for sure.
[Editor's note: Not stationary, Rob. They were moving at a slow and steady rate across the sky. :)]
So, providing “you all” went out to see a repeat perfomance tonight…
Anything happen?
[Editor's note: Not a thing. Went up on the hill, filmed a good old airplane for comparison. Not even close. ;)]
Autumn,
Did you ever figure out what you saw? Definately something out of the ordinary for sure! But…like you said….”What are they?”
Deano (Maryland)
Very good!!! My thought on the deal is that you filmed a Blimp. I’ve seen a couple of blimps fly overhead and even in the evening the shape does appear to give a triangular shape, especially when flying directly overhead, and the 3 lights together like that was probably the crew compartment. It’s just a hunch, but that was my first hunch after watching the video. But, it’s nice to speculate and wonder. I would take your video and have it enhanced. That should be able to distinctly say what it is that you filmed. Anyhoot, good luck and I hope it is a UFO that you filmed. Then you would have to add UFO researcher to your resume. GRIN GRIN. Have a great day and thanks.
David
great video Autumn : ) I loved how real it was………and you were prepared with camera in hand, I love it! Good luck with looking upward, maybe while your mind is on a UFO a Sasquatch will show! Sali ~ glad you got out to see these strange lights too ~ HI!
:) Alex
:] MADE YOU LOOK! !
The Mt. by our place affords one a 360 (can’t find a degree key) view. The top was logged, and replanted, about 5 years ago. The path of airplanes is clearly visible from horizon to horizon, and it’s low in the sky. We saw numerous planes, a shooting star, and a satellite while we were up there. There was nothing that remotely resembled what we’d seen the previous night. Autumn did, however, get buzzed by the gia nt brown bat that seems to inhabit the Mt. top. It has a wing span of approx. 18 inches!
That was awesome! I was waiting for Rowan to yell “Ice Cream!!”. :)
I’m glad I got to see them too, Alex. Even if we never figure out what those craft were it was exciting. i just wish I’d gotten out there sooner.
Until recently, Pat Uskert had a program on The History Channel called “UFO Hunters.” It was an excellent program, with a couple of scientists on their investigative team. (I think that it was recently cancelled.)
You might want to contact Pat.

Thanks very much, for sharing the video with us.
Just some comments from my experience. I’m Connie’s friend Dave. I have 5 years military aviation(Army)experience.
3 years as a crew chief on AH-1S’s, and Two years as an Aerial Sensor Specialist on OV-!D’s. which means I operated Camera’s and radar. I have also never seen stobes flashing in this manner, and also bright white lights indicate landing lights or search lights. Either of which seem to be the case here. If it were a helicopter, you would definately hear it, contrary to the movie Blue Thunder, where they could switch to stealth mode… it dont exist. I have never seen a blimp with that light pattern. The sound you describe could be a ducted fan type of propulsion… but doubtful… definately a good mystery here.
The F-117 is 1970′s technology, so imagine what they have now. Actually, it’s probably beyond our imaginations. You should keep checking back with NUFORC and other UFO websites to see if they have seen similar UFOs. Strobe lights might also be some sort of new technology. A strange triangle that flew over Belgium back in the 80′s had a bright colored light on center bottom of it. With these lights it makes it seem like it’s ours, but you never know. And then there’s the Phoenix Lights from 1997 that 1000′s of people saw fly over Phoenix, AZ that the military said were flares. I guess if they strung together some flares and put some strobe lights on them, it would look AND sound like your sighting. But I don’t know the speed of them and the wind speed that night. Then there’s also the famous “weather balloon” from Roswell 1947, but I don’t see why they would put strobes on that kind of thing.
Hey, Dave.
Glad you piped up here. You’re the kind of experienced person we were hoping to hear from. I wondered at the time if those craft weren’t searching for something, but they just kept truckin’ across the sky. We’ve had numerous searches in this area over the years (people missing on land, and in the water. We live right up against miles of forest, but one field away from the river.), and the way those big lights kept strobing reminded me of those search parties. Some of the helicopters in the past have used similar white lights (non-strobing), but they were quite close to the ground, and you could tell what they were by the sound. The search vehicles have very bright spotlights, as well, but they are on the ground.
This sound was almost more felt than heard, and these two craft were much too high to be searching unless what they were looking for was a place. Does that make sense?
As the craft cruised out of sight it appeared they drew closer together. My husband said it just looked that way because of distance, but I’m not so sure.
In the video Autumn shot you can see that the trailing craft began shutting down it’s lights until there was just one bright white one. What do you make of that? Also, I would think that if these craft didn’t want to be seen why the light show? Autumn mentioned too that they would have waited until like 3 A.M. when everyone was asleep.
It is indeed a mystery.
Quickly, just a comment about this Editor’s note:
[Thanks. And it's "Bigfoots", I think, Bob. Actually, I usually go for the old standby, "Sasquatches". Much easier to pluralize. *grin*]
I always thought that the plural for Bigfoot should just be BIGFOOT. You know, like sheep, or deer. Somehow, “Bigfeet,” “Bigfoots” and “Sasquatches” either sound lame or clunky… Try it out in a sentence: “I saw a whole family of Bigfoot when I was hiking in the woods the other day.”
Sounds good, doesn’t it? I know, I know, you don’t have to thank me. I’m the man :)
In responce to Sali:
I am Dave’s friend and after he wrote the message above he started remembering other things about the UFO that Autumn filmed and what he knows about aircraft; and one thing was that aircraft that we know of has to have a certain “timed” pattern of flashing lights. Now that doesn’t mean that the military wouldn’t change for some reason I would guess. But another thing he said was that the film looked like the craft was too high for helicopters and too silent which already stated. That night that he posted the message above we went for a ride on his Harley and coming back into Albany from Halsey it was getting dark and the stars were bright. I was looking up in the sky thinking about Autumn’s encounter and saw a strobe light “craft” and than others that were to our left. I showed Dave them by pointing and asking “What are they?” (lol) He slowed and watched them, almost ran off the road, stopped the bike and watched more before telling me that they were military craft because of the flight pattern and lights. No hesitation. He knew what they were; and although the strobe light effect was similar to Autumn’s UFO, they were still very distinctly different. And one of the craft was going at a high rate of speed.
So I just wanted to make a few more comments about it and wondered if you have heard anything more on the matter.
Connie
Connie: This article appeared on the Anomolist site shortly after we saw the craft at our place. This guy’s description isn’t quite the same, but it’s similar. During daylight, on the 11th my husband saw an ultralight circling near us. He said it had delta shaped wings. He’s now sure that’s what we saw. I’m not. I can’t imagine an ultralight having the numerous bright lights, or flying that high, nor do I think there would be two of them flying that distance (many miles) at night. Ask Dave what he thinks about this, please.
http://www.examiner.com/x-2363-UFO-Examiner~y2009m9d11-Former-helicopter-pilot-watches-low-flying-UFO-over-home
Hello Sali:
I had a message ready to post when I accidently wiped it off my screen…Darn computers anyway…lol.
Anyway, to responce on your above message I have sent it on to Dave who lives in Portland. He will not be down this way until Friday, so he might not be able to get a letter off to you until then. Autumn has my private e-mail addy if you would rather corrosponde that way; it might be easier. But if not, this is perfectly fine here also. But I give Autumn my permission to give you my addy.
The helicopter pilot that reported his sightings is very interesting. But I wonder since there were no flashing strobe lights if it were not satelites he was seeing. They will move across the sky without any flashing lights and of course too far away to hear anything. Except that he said they were very close; so that might rule out a satelite.
I was looking on the internet yesterday for UFO’s and found one that looked quite like the one Autumn had filmed; and there were no conclusions to what it was either.
I am awaiting Dave’s responce and will pass on to you as soon as I get it.
Sincerely,
Connie
