REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: Speaking of rapping, Steve Williams spent last weekend on a ridge overlooking the lower Molalla River. He didn't see anything unusual, except a lack of game (hunting season). Saturday evening, October 9th, he heard rapping on a tree, so started some patterns himself. In the time span of rapping, he heard raps from three other locations, and they were of various patterns. A two rap, pause, three rap, then change to a slow then a fast beat. The total time elapsed was about fifteen minutes, and then nothing more the rest of the weekend and Monday, even though he continued his rapping. Steve did mention that one of the reports sounded dull, as if the pounding was on a rotten log. I often wonder if some raps are from another hunter or child, or if we are actually experiencing a communication with another species. Sounds like something out of Star Trek. Many others, including myself, have experienced this rapping noise. - Ray Crowe
