west on rt.44 to george washington state park. Follow dirt road down about 1 mile and turn left at fork. Proceed about 1 mile and enter path on right hand side of dirt road.
Description of event: I am a 26 year old herpetology enthusiest. One night last summer after working 2nd shift I decided to go out to the woods in a state park here in R.I. called George Washington State Park. I had been in the woods a good distance in from the dirt road for about I'd say 2 hours. I was using a flash light to locate some reptiles and amphibians.I had smelled a rotten type of smell almost like rotted meat. I figured it was probly a deer that got hit or something and didnt think much of it. Just as I was getting ready to leave I heard a scream come from a good distance away. It sounded like to me like a scream you would hear from a monkey or gorrilla, only much louder and with much more bass to it. I'll admit it startled the hell out of me and I remember saying to myself "its time to go now". I kept hearing the scream on and off on my way out of the woods. The problem was each time I heard it, it got louder and closer. Finaly it got so close that I paniced and began to jog down the path. I was just about near the end of the path when I heard the scream again and this time it was followed by crashes and the sound of limbs snapping. I damn near shit myself and went into a full out run for all I was worth. I dug my car keys out as I was running and reached my car and tore the door open and I never remember starting a car and driving off so fast in my life. I was heading the wrong way to get out when I drove off which means I had to turn my car around to get out. I flew up the road and turned in a clearing as I went back in the direction of the incident my headlights caught a big figure in the road up ahead. I was beyond any doubt an upright beastly looking thing. I was not a bear. This creature was about 7-8 feet tall, dark brown hair on most of its body with some bald patches. The face was like a deformed human. it looked animal like and the closer I got to it as I drove forward the human features stood out. As I came up on it in a hurry it screamed once more and ran into the woods. Thats what I saw. If I had to guess what it was I would say some kind of wildman that was deformed and crazy. But how something could be human and see that well to run in the dark is beyond me. If I had to guess a wieght I would say it was about 300 lbs. It moved like a man, it ran like a man, It had facial features like a man and I truly believe it was going to harm me. I know the state of RI is a very small one and I have never heard of such a siteing in this state. I was never one to truly believe in bigfoot until last summer. If what I saw happened then anything is possible. I must say this has left me very weary of entering the woods alone again at any time of day.This is all I can tell you simply because its all I know. I havent told anyone about this because I didnt want to seem crazy. I found your site and you are the first to hear about it.
