I wasn't the driver or anything like that. I know it was my ex- stepdad's 'secret camping spot'.I know we drove on the higway from Calgary to around Olds and then he turned onto a dirt road which we followed for about 2-3 hours (well being a child it seemed that long). The road kept climbing up and up higher...but not a steep climb, it was more of a gradual climb. Once we got up high enough, we turned off of the road and just went through, what seemed like, a logging road. I remember driving over the little trees and hearing them hit the bottom of the truck.

Description of event: My mom (Tawnee. About 39 at the time), her ex-fiance (Ed. About 36 at the time), Ed’s son Jason (about 5-6 at the time) and me Cheyenne (8-9 at the time) went camping up in Limestone mountian (area). The temperatures during the day were about 10 degrees Celcius and at night they were at least –15 degrees Celcius. My mom and Ed set up camp and my mom packed us all food so we could go on our hike. I remember my saying “If you don’t finish combing your hair then you can’t come, and we’ll leave you here for all the bears to eat you.” She said laughing (I knew they were joking). We enojoyed the hike…quite cold but still fun. When we got back to camp, I was fairly tired and so was everyone else. Jason and I crawled into our sleeping bag (we shared one) and listened to the soundsof the fire crackleing and our parents talking out by the campfire. I woke up at about…2:30 in the moring because I had to go to the bathroom. I woke up my mom and asked her to go find a place with me (the area had no ‘normal’ bathrooms so we had to go on logs and such) but she said no, and told me to go by myself. I was really scared to walk outside by myself but I really had to go. I grabbed some toilet paper and put on my coat and went outside to go. I remember the air was misty and sort of musky smelling. I did my buisness as quick as I could because I felt like someone was watching me. I quickly ran back into the tent and cuddled back in my sleeping bag. About a half an hour past and I could not go to sleep. Everyone in the tent was snoring and that wasn’t the LEAST that was bothering me. At about 3:00 I heard something slowly walking through the creek that was about 50 meters in the direction of our feet. The pattern was quite weird. It was like, step….pause….step….pause……step…step….step…pause….step..step…step…step…
pause…SPALSH!! I jumped when it went it splashed. It kind of sounded like it was doing a dance through the water or something. The creek was about 7 feet wide and about 6 inches deep. I remember it being silent for about 3 minutes and for a minute I thought I was just dreaming. I remember seeing the fire still burning proudly through the side of my tent. All of a sudden ‘the thing’ through something at the tent. I ripped a tiny hole in the wall on my side. The hole was about the size of a man’s thumbnail. It was quite again. I lifted my ear off of the pillow so I could hear what was going on. I heard ‘the thing’ walking cautiously towards us. Our heads were facing the side of a steep moutian. I was convinced that ‘the thing’ was definetly NOT human. The cld night air was seeping in through the hole that the creature inflicted into out tent. I was starring wide-eyed at the small hole when I say the shadow of the creature on our tent. From the shadow I could see that ‘the thing’ was aprox. 7-8 feet tall. The creature suddenly held his eye up to the hole and slowly looked around. I made eye contact with him because I was to scared to do anything else. Its eyes were yellow (sort of like my cat’s eyes) and he just seemed curious. We held eye contact for about 1 minute and then he started walking towards the campfire. The fire was blazing and then all of a sudden it flicker and then it was just was glowing orange coals. I looked around in the tent to make sure that everyone was in there. They all were. It was quite for about 5 minutes when it started to pace back and fourth on my side of the tent. I think it was waiting for me to fall asleep. I tried just testing. I pretended to snore. It walked back up to the hole and looked inside I shut my eyes only so I could see a little bit. After it left again my mom wispered “What the hell was that?”I didn’t answer her. After that, all it did was pace back and forth. I sware it was just waiting for me to go to sleep. I couldn’t stand it any more. Because of my stupid curiousity I slowly stood up and peeked out of the hole. The creature starred at me. It took a step closer to me. I laid back down. It grunted at me very softly. Almost like a sniff. It sounded like ‘roow’. It said it quietly and gently. I put my eye up to the hole again. My mom was still awake. I looked at it…no longer scared…just curious. We starred at each other for a while…about 2 minutes. It took a step forward our faces were about 8 inches apart. I could smell it strongly. It smelled like a fish but musky. It’s the smell that I smelled earlier. It did the soft grunt again, but held it a little longer, like ‘rooooow’. It was trying to talk to me I think. I grunted back like ‘roooow’. I think I startled it. It steped back cautiously. I used my fingers to tear the hole a little bit bigger. The creature just stood there. Now I could get a better look at it. It was aprox. 6 feet tall. It had long legs and long arms. It’s arms hung down past its knees. It had a quite big upper body with no neck. It just went from the chest area to the head. It had a gorrila like nose and big beautiful yellow eyes. It was a greyish/white. I let my hand stay at the hole. The hole was now, about the size of a mans hand. It took a step forward again. We were now 5 inches apart (aprox.). It tilted it’s head right, a little bit. It grunted a sort of ‘tick tick tick’ sound. By now I thought it was a girl…I don’t know why but I just thought it was. She slowly nudged my hand with her nose. At first I pulled back but then I reached out my hand and touched her head. She sort of bumped my hand up higher onto her head. The sky was getting lighter and lighter by the minute. I was kind of petting her head. It sounded like she was purring! Suddenly, a bird called out very loud and she got scared. She darted off, on her two legs, and ran up the side of the mountain. Within about 3 seconds she was beond the tree line. She sure was quick. After that I slowly slid back into my sleeping bag (after waiting a while to see if she’d come back.) My mom said that I was very stupid to do that. She also asked me what it was. “Was it a moose or an Elk?” I just shrugged and dozed off. When I woke up later, everyone else was already awake. When I came out of the tent my mom was talking about the weird dream that she had. She dreamth that I was petting something through a hole in the tent. A smile crept up on my face. I sat down and ate the breakfast that they had ready for me. I was looking around when I noticed a stack of stones by the creek. I asked Jason if he did it. He said no. Ed said that he thought I did it. I shrugged and continued to eat. I was facing the side of the moutain. I looked up and saw her standing there. She was pretty well hiden but I could still see her. I was certin that everyone on the other side of the fire couldn’t see her. It was the most wierdest but most exciteing thing that has ever happened to me.
