REPORT OVERVIEW

Date: may , 1998, or 99
Shoshone county, ID
Nearest town:
Kellogg ( ski town in the north part )
Nearest road:
Only one road goes through K. I do not remember.
Conditions:
sunny, warm
Time:
early afternoon
Location:
East of the town Kellogg, only a few miles, there is a sign on the right, and a road. Like a wilderness, or camp sign. But, you would not miss it. At first, the road is paved, then it becomes dirt. Almost a mile from the main road is a mine operation of some kind, and big. The road goes right through the company, and up into the mountians. I went about a mile above the mine company, and parked where that company had dug into the mountain. I parked on the east side of the dirt road. There are large mountains on both sides of the road. I went west across the road, and crossed the creek that runs along side the road. It is beautiful, and I was lucky to have found a tree that had fallen across the creek to use.

REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: I was going to hike the mountain in front of me, and get to the cliffs. I thought it would take me about a hour to reach them, but it took about three hours. The top third is a lot more steep than it looks from the road. I was worried more than once. Sometimes, I was on all fours to keep from falling. There was a lot of deer dropings from the start of my hike. But, I did not see any trails until I was almost to the top of the mountain. I used one of these trails to go southwest along the ridge line. There was a large patch of trees, and brush between me, and the cliffs. I started through them. I thought I could hear a human walking, so I stopped. A few more sounds of foot falls, then they stopped. At first, I was thinking what animal did I scare. A few more of my steps, and I could hear it again. this time coming closer. Now, I was scared. As I write this to you, my heart is starting to beat faster, because I remember how scared I really was back then. I had no weapon, and what ever was walking was no rabbit, or deer, or bird playing in the weeds. Maybe, it was a bear. However, it sounded like a human walking to me. I got down on the ground, and tried to see through the brush, but I could not see three feet ahead of me. I did not think it could be far to the other side of the tree area. So, I took a deep breath, and dashed for the rocks. I reached them, and climbed about 15 feet before I had to stop, and get my breath again. I was soaking wet, and tired. I laid on the rocks looking back to the trees I just left expecting something to come out, but it never did. That is pretty much it. I was on contract at the hospital in that town to perform ultrasound exams, while a lady took some time off. I am 5'10'', and at the time I weighed abut 210lbs, and was very healthy from playing rugby. I do not think I get scared easy. I have told a few people, and my wife my story, and I have written to a bigfoot reasearch website not long after it happened. I do not think anyone believes that it was bigfoot except me. Have a great weekend, Mark A. Morris RDMS #42771
