Description of event: I am an active duty Navy officer with a Bachelors in Science from the University of Texas. I also grew up in the country in Texas and do not get frightened easily. I woke up to use the bathroom at about 0400 in the morning. Within 10 min, I began to hear "whooping" in the near distance. I live very close to Hwy 3 and the sound was on my side of the Hwy. I would have to say within 1/4 of a mile. At least 5 different dogs in the neighborhood began to bark very excitedly which was a surprise since I didn't even know that many dogs were that close to me since they never barked like that before. It sounded more like a monkey than a bird. It sounded like the Snohomish recording but much more clear.
