Description of event: I was laying in bed on a warm evening with my window open in my house. When I was trying to fall asleep I heard knockings on trees near by. We do live in the mountains so it could have been an echo so I am not sure how far away it was. I first heard two knocks which sounded like a rock hitting a tree or a large branch hitting a tree, then a bout 30 seconds to 45 seconds later, I heard 2 more knocks. We do also live by an active mill but this did not sound like anything that the mill has made. After I heard the second set of knocks, I got a pit in my stomach and got very nervous. I listened very closely after that, but I didn't hear anything. Thinking back though,I have heard the knocks before.
