REPORT DETAIL

Description of event: I am an Ojibway Indian and have heard stories from my parents of a hairy creatures that we call 'mamiegwess' and travels thru this region once a year. My nephew, Archie Jr is a bulldozer operator and pushes open new logging roads in that area. One morning as he came back to his truck for his lunch found tracks in the fresh snow (1/2")that weren't there that morning when he arrived. This is an area that is uninhabitted, the nearest town being Sioux Lookout 1 1/2 hours drive. He told his father that night ( Dad, he has toes!) and we went up there to investigate on the first weekend with my three brothers. We found and followed the tracks. Using an old trappers trick ( using bare hands) we found the tracks to be 18" long and 6" wide. Whoever made these tracks would wlak along the edge of the cut and not go otu into the open areas and the snow was deep. When we tried to copy the strides we couldn't as the snow was up to our hips in some areas. My three brothers are trappers and lived all their lives in the bush and we believe these tracks to be made by an upright 'person', bipedal( not a 4 legged animal), has long skinny shins and legs, is not a hoax. For the first time in my life, I felt shivers down my neck as somebody had been here and it was not animal or human.
